Universal Speed Rating

A speed standard and the coaching network built on it: testing that produces a rating, and Speed Labs that turn the rating into training.

Talk to a TeamBuildr rep about USR

Programs you run inside TeamBuildr. We will set them up with you.

One number, four inputs

Coaches already train speed. What they have not had is a number that means the same thing everywhere. The rating scores max velocity, acceleration, power and change of direction on a single 15-to-99 scale, and every athlete gets a national comparison against their own age, gender and sport rather than against the room.

Max velocity
97
Change of direction
90
Acceleration
32
Power
98

One athlete’s four scores, and the rating they come out as: 79.

An athlete's USR profile: an overall rating of 79, with max velocity 97, change of direction 90, acceleration 32 and power 98, and a performance profile chart.

It runs where the programming already does

The rating lives inside TeamBuildr, alongside the sessions you are already writing. There is no second system for a coach to learn and no separate roster to keep in step.

Two ways to test

  • Your staff runs it, on your campus and on your own day. USR supplies the protocol, the evaluation template and the scoring: the lowest lift, and what most schools pick.
  • Or a nearby USR Speed Lab brings the testing to the school: trained staff, the full protocol, nothing for the coach to administer.
  • Either way every athlete comes out with a rating and a national comparison, and the results feed back so they show up in TeamBuildr.

The Speed-A-Thon

One day, one max speed test, and money raised for the program, with every athlete's top speed landing on a national leaderboard. Speed is measured on the timing gates or GPS units a school already owns; the coach uploads the times and leaderboards build themselves at school, regional and national level, filterable by age, gender and sport. Two windows a year, December to January and June to July, with each school picking its own day inside the window.

Still in build: the windows above are the plan, not a date you can register for yet.
